Description

Long before modern playing cards took over tabletops, India had its own ancient card tradition known as Ganjifa- a richly illustrated, hand-painted set of circular or rectangular cards that flourished in royal courts, especially during the Mughal and Maratha periods. These decks were often made of cloth, ivory, or palm leaf, and depicted themes from mythology, astrology, and daily life.

Much like Ganjifa, this modern deck celebrates both artistry and storytelling. Offering not just a game, but a reflection of heritage, nature, and endangered beauty.

At the heart of this deck are India’s endangered animals, reimagined as the noble faces of the court:

  • King ; Royal Bengal Tiger: Majestic, powerful, and symbolic of India’s wild soul.

  • Queen ; Green Peafowl: Elegant and rare, a regal beauty in plumage and spirit.

  • Jack ; Blackbuck: Graceful and swift, known for its striking horns and agility.

  • Ace ; Snow Leopard: Silent guardian of the Himalayas, elusive and ethereal.

  • Joker ; Asian Elephant: Wise and playful, revered in Indian lore and deeply endangered.

The number cards feature a soft pastel ombré design, giving the deck a contemporary yet calming aesthetic. These are perfect for quiet evenings, thoughtful gifts, or collectors who cherish both design and meaning.
